Christine Goodman has been living and creating art in Jersey City, NJ for almost ten years. She debuted her photography at L.I.T.M. in the Fall of 2005 as part of Eye4One Studios' 1000 Words show, hailed by Ahn Behrens of the Waterfront Journal as "among the strongest in the show."
In 2005, Goodman received a Best Actress in a Featured Role nomination by the New York Innovative Theatre Awards. She has performed in countless plays throughout the country, including Sleeping with Management, an original, multimedia comedy (New York International Fringe Festival, 2004). An honors graduate from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Theater Program, Goodman spent a portion of her time there studying abroad at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.
Goodman is also a spoken word artist, featured at such venues as The Bowery Poetry Club, The Slipper Room, Maxwell's (Hoboken, NJ), Pink Pony West (Cornelia St.), Passaic County Community College (NJ), The Orange Bear, The Back Fence, and on the steps of City Hall (Jersey City, NJ). Christine Goodman is Founder/Director of Art House Productions. Since 2001, Art House Productions has created performance, broadcast, and publishing opportunities for artists. In November 2006, Goodman produced and co-created The Heist Project, a large-scale, critically-acclaimed play that sold out its run at Victory Hall Cultural Center in Jersey City, NJ.
Goodman hosts The Art House, Jersey City's longest running performance series on the first Thursday of every month in Jersey City, NJ. Each event has a featured guest followed by a "new talent showcase" for poets, actors, comics, writers, and acoustic musicians. Past features have included Reg E. Gaines (Book/lyrics of Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk, Obie Award winner, two time Tony Award nominee and Grammy Award nominee), Regie Cabico (National Poetry Slam champion, winner of MTV's 'Free Your Mind' competition, PBS series 'In the Life' feature, performer on HBO's Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry, 1997 recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Poetry Fellowship), Ishle Yi Park (Queens Poet Laureate), Ken McManus (Pushcart Prize Nominee), and Mahina Movement (NYC activist performance troupe).
Goodman is Executive Producer for The Art House TV Show, airing on Comcast Channel 51 and Manhattan Neighborhood Network, and spearheads JC Fridays, a seasonal, citywide celebration of the arts in Jersey City. She is currently serving as Arts Commissioner for the City of Jersey City through 2009.
In Fall 2006, Goodman will publish Art House Productions' fouth collection of local writers' works, entitled Pile Driving in C Minor: Poetry and Songs from the City.
